World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

Trailer

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is a name trademarked[2] by Blizzard Entertainment[3]that will be the next expansion[4] after Cataclysm. MMO Champion speculated that "Mists of Pandaria" could be the name for the next expansion[3] and turned out to be correct. Kotaku pointed out that a similar early registration of "Cataclysm" turned out to be the new expansion name.[5]
A release date for the expansion was announced to be September 25th, 2012 with digital pre-orders starting on the announcement date of July 25th, 2012.[1] Details about the Collector's Edition and theDigital Deluxe Edition were included.
MMO Champion's speculation that it might be the next expansion was met by skepticism by several media outlets.[6][7][8] 1UP actually tried to contact Blizzard about this and the reply was "not ready to reveal any details at this time".[9] Strangely, a gaming and technology blogger said that there was a leak about the next expansion being focused on the island of Pandaria back in March 2011.[10]
Finally, Medievaldragon of Blizzplanet wrote a very nice, comprehensive article about the speculation surrounding the rumors and Pandaria in general.[11]
Some analysts doubted it would be released in 2012.[12] Also, in Activision-Blizzard's 2011 Q4 financials call, only Diablo III was confidently predicted to be released in 2012[13][14] with a possible second release being either Mists of Pandaria or StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.[15][16]
In early April 2012, WoW Insider turned out to have a very accurate prediction of the end of the beta as September 27th being only 2 days from the actual announced release date.[17] Technically, they were more than 2 weeks off, however, because they placed the release of the patch at August 15th.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the spiritual successor to 2010's "War for Cybertron", and depicts the climax of the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, culminating in the destruction of the Transformer homeworld of Cybertron.

Overview

A much darker game than its predecessor Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron follows after the first major conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons as the war between the two factions that was started in the previous game reaches its peak. Optimus Prime now leading his faction must battle Megatron's growing forces and influence over all Cybertronians in a bid for control over their dying world. Cybertron is in ruin and the planet's core is filled with Dark Energon, forcing it to shut down and go in to a death-like stasis.
After High Moon initially stated that they are not confident in their ability to deliver a quality port of the game to PC, on June 1st a PC version was announced to launch simultaneously with the console version after all. The PC port is handled by Mercenary Games, a relatively unknown studio.

Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is an online RPG currently being developed by ArenaNet, and continues the subscription-less business model of the original Guild Wars. The game is set about 250 years after the events of its predecessor in a world devastated by the ancient dragons resurfacing after millennia of slumber.

Overview

Guild Wars 2 is the second game in the Guild Wars franchise. GW2 is currently being developed by ArenaNet and is still retaining the original concept of having no monthly fees. The game uses a new engine with improved graphics over the original games, but is said to still run on moderate to high spec PCs. DirectX10 is supported but it is not required.

Controls

Guild Wars 2 will have revamped controls compared to the previous game, eliminating "click-to-move" and adding a Z axis to allow for jumping and swimming. Characters will be able to interact with the environment through motion significantly more, by jumping, climbing, swimming, sliding, etc. Spells and abilities with cast times can be cast while moving, and it has been mentioned that using an ability while jumping or moving may cause it to perform differently than usual. Players can also dodge incoming attacks by double tapping on any directional key.

Skills

Guild Wars 2 is unique in that it has a ten slot skill bar, of which only five skills are determined by the player. The rest are determined by the character’s profession and weapon they currently have equipped. For example, a Warrior with a two-handed greatsword will always have the same first five skills (the weapon’s main damage dealing skills); with the latter five being drawn from a pool of healing, utility, and elite skills. These are customizable to best fit the player’s play style and current situation and each profession and race will have a wide variety of utility skills from which to choose.
Weapon skills are unlocked through use of their associated weapon, while non-weapon skills can be collected using a mechanic similar to the one found in the original Guild Wars.
